Many man hours were spent pre-planning this event — site walkthroughs with the NBC Production Team, designated staging areas, command post setup, radios and communications, equipment delivery/pickup, security badge and uniform distribution, and trash hauling. The overnight team worked diligently around production breakdown crews to turn over the area in a clean and orderly fashion.

Along with the help of Sunbelt Rentals, Inc., our team worked continuously with the use of Tennant Company floor scrubbing equipment — which was spec'd out during our pre-plan logistics walkthrough a month ago. We selected their EH20 Scrubbers, which allowed us to clean and disinfect the floors of this monster warehouse effectively and efficiently, keeping to our allotted time frame and budget. Summit was contracted to perform a comprehensive carpet extraction and upholstery cleaning of the Deloitte facility in Parsippany, NJ. When planning for a 180,000 sq ft carpet extraction and deep cleaning of 2,500+ chairs, a proper pre-plan is paramount to the success of the project. Our plan broke down our staff into specialized teams: a Carpet Extraction Team of 4 teams of two (tech + helper) running 4 HWE's; an Upholstery Cleaning Team of 6 individuals running 6 HWE spotters on utility carts for ease of mobility; a Drying Team of 4 individuals setting up and monitoring 20 floor fans and 2 dehumidification units; a Chemical Team of 2 stationed at the slop sink to manage emptying, refilling, and chemical proportioning; and a Management Team of 5, strategically assigned per floor to perform quality control and support the technicians. Summit's project team performed a machine scrubbing of an epoxy floor inside of a packaging facility. These epoxy floors were painted only a year ago, but with the regular abuse that this floor takes it was necessary for a deep scrubbing to restore them to an acceptable condition. We encountered a large amount of tape and residue on the floors, which was all removed manually before we began the floor scrubbing process. With the help of the Diversey line of products, a power cleaner was applied to the floor — we allowed the chemical to sit and loosen all the embedded dirt and grease before we machine scrubbed and vacuumed with our Tennant Company line of equipment. The floors were then mopped with a sanitizer to ensure a clean, safe, and compliant result.

Pictured: we upgraded this client from basic white hand soap to a foam dispenser — providing an aloe-based anti-bacterial soap in all their restrooms. The existing through-the-countertop dispensers were removed and the holes were covered with a stainless steel blank.

All workers were provided with 24ft extension poles with treated dusters — eliminating the need for and added risk of ladder usage. A scissor lift via our partners at Herc Rentals was used for the atrium and lobby, spec'd out to ensure a seamless operation.

December was a very busy month for the Summit project team. We were tasked with a week-long post-construction cleanup of a 15-story building in Midtown Manhattan — only 5 days to turn these floors into a turnkey-ready model for incoming tenants and brokers. We staffed this project with over 500 man hours of labor, leaving no surface untouched. Our team of cleaning technicians, window cleaners, and floor technicians simultaneously worked around trades completing punch list items and photographers shooting the space for online listings. Each technician was given a specific task, equipment, and time — duplicated per floor.

One of the first places we ask to see when meeting a prospective client? The janitorial closet. For a surface to be properly sanitized, disinfectant must remain visibly wet for the manufacturer's required dwell time — often up to 10 minutes. If it dries before that window closes, the surface has been cleaned — not sanitized.

One of our Platinum clients was experiencing ongoing cooling issues within their 8,000 sq. ft. facility. Despite prior service attempts, the HVAC system continued to underperform. Summit conducted a comprehensive mechanical assessment and identified the root cause: a puncture in the aluminum condensing coil, resulting in refrigerant loss and improper system pressure. After evaluating all options — including full unit replacement versus targeted coil replacement — we advised on the most cost-effective and operationally sound solution. Given the complexity and expense of rigging an entirely new rooftop unit, the client elected to replace the condensing coil itself. Coil replacement was completed, system recharged and calibrated, and full cooling function restored.
